Description
Chester Alan Arthur, the often overlooked 21st President, was born October 5, 1829. Arthur's father, a well-educated Irish immigrant, was an impecunious Baptist minister whose brick church, standing on a nearby hillside, is open for visitation. The present structure, built by the State of Vermont, is a replica of the parsonage the Arthur family moved to in 1830. It offers a pictorial exhibit on Chester A. Arthur's life and career civil service reform.
