Take a walk on the rural side wandering some of the eight miles of scenic trail winding through Shelburne Farms, a National Historic Landmark and center for environmental education sprawling admist grass and trees at the edge of Lake Champlain. Visitors to this non-profit farm can watch cheesemaking first hand, pet animals in the Children's farmyard and sign up for a variety of guided tours, from a House and Garden Tea Tour at the associated Inn to a guided trip through the Breeding Barn. Even during off-season the walking trails at Shelburne Farms are open to the public.
