From the New York state turnpike west of Syracuse, take state route 414 to the district office in Hector.
Description
The Green Mountain National Forest spans the Green Mountain Range from the Massachusetts border to Bristol. There are six wilderness areas, 900 miles of trails: hiking, backpacking, snowmobiling, skiing, and snowshoeing, picnic areas, campgrounds, fishing and hunting. There are two historical firetowers, and many cultural features. The Forest has a lot of watchable wildlife: bear, deer, moose, falcons, eagles.
